Outfit Inspiration: 5 Dress Styles to Try!

We are well into summer now and since it’s heating up, what better opportunity to bust out some dresses to keep yourself both cool and comfortable! Our Stylists love the ease of dresses in that they/re one piece dressing, and minimal coordination is required. We also love how easily they can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Dresses are a wardrobe staple in the warmer months, but they can also be just as easily worn going into fall and winter. We’ll shoe you 5 dress styles to try and how to make them into transitional pieces, once the heat goes away (boo!)

This style creates so much femininity and shape! The perfect cut for an hourglass shape, or a body attempting to appear hourglass. This cut is great for highlighting a smaller waist and adding balance to a fuller hip or bust. This silhouette can suit many different styles depending on the pattern and colour of dress. You can dress it up or down making it an option for both business casual, or just casual! Be sure to let your Stylist know if you’d like to receive waist defining dresses!

So much love for the wrap dress! This style is a bit different than the waist-defined cut in that it pulls away from the center, and creates an asymmetrical shape. This can give the eye the illusion of a smaller waist and more balanced out bust and hip. A larger scale pattern will work if you are trying to draw attention away from any areas, but it also works great in your favourite hue, like this beautiful lilac number, perfect for summer! We think this works great for an apple or square shaped body!

The sheath can be both formal and casual, all depending on the fabric and details! We love this silhouette for straight or curvy figures, and the styling can really lend to your comfort. If you feel it’s too form fitting for your style, try adding a denim or moto jacket to add comfort. This style is a great office friendly option as it’s both comfortable but professional!

This style of dress has been so popular this season! Shorter than a maxi, midi length hits you anywhere from above your ankle to just below your knee – the most common hemline on this silhouette is in the middle of your calf. Subscribers are loving this style for its ease and practicality. You can easily bend down to pick up kids or climb the playground in this length! Though hemlines can sometimes be tricky if you don’t have a lot of height, since the midi range varies, we are sure there is a perfect length for all heights! This silhouette of dress can work for any shape, depending on the styling!

Hello comfy casual! The t-shirt dress is a Stylist favourite at Frock Box for its ease and wearability! Check out our Instagram feed this week for a fun One Piece, 3 Ways highlighting this style of dress. This style can work for most bodies depending on length and how you’d like to wear it. T-shirt dresses are generally straight cut so sometimes they can feel shapeless. We love knotting the bottom to create a ruching effect and to show off your figure! Pair a t-shirt dress with sandals and a denim jacket for a casual look, or tuck into a skirt or jeans to totally change up the vibe. Your options are limitless!
